Mantra Meditation.

2020.

I first started meditating five years ago as a way to calm my anxiety before job interviews. My go to guided meditation at the time was F*ck That: An Honest Meditation. I think this was created as a joke but I used it regularly before every job interview I’ve had in the past five years and it’s really helped calm my anxiety.

Eventually I looked into other guided meditations and found an app that I loved called Calm. I started meditating more regularly, usually on my commute to work. But similar to my yoga practice, after having kids, I stopped meditating.

My job holds a meditation challenge for it’s employees every year in October. The challenge is to meditate for at least one minute a day every day for the entire month. I did this challenge last year and intended to continue meditating after October but it did not last very long with a newborn.

So here I am again, a year later, I’ve meditated everyday this month and I’m recommitting to my meditation practice. Something new I discovered this year is mantra meditation. My mantra is the song lyric, “feeling blessed, never stressed” (by Surfaces). Anytime I feel anxious I remember to breathe. With each breath I inhale blessings and exhale stresses.

_______

One Year Later.

2021.

I am grounded.

How do you ground yourself?

One of my favorite ways to feel more grounded is to listen to music. Both my boys were born into this world with Coyote Oldman playing in the background. The flutes never fail to calm my anxiety.

For my latest yoga teacher training assignment, I created a grounding chakra meditation.

If you are in need of some grounding, I invite you to join me.
